My software is stuck. Who can help?

Short answer
For a problem inside a product, start with its software provider. HMRC cannot troubleshoot every product. For your tax account or obligations, use the official HMRC support route.
A submit button or update period is missing
If a submit button or update period is missing, check the reporting obligations and due dates for the relevant tax year in your HMRC online account. A software connection alone does not confirm that an update was received.
As a practical support check, ask your provider how to find the outstanding period for the relevant income source. Describe what HMRC shows and what is missing in the product. The cause depends on the product and account; this checklist does not diagnose a particular software fault.
Record the problem before contacting support
As a practical checklist, note the product name, time, exact error message, affected tax year and whether you were connecting or submitting. Keep account identifiers and financial screenshots out of public forums.

Check the account, not just the animation
Check whether MTD appears in your HMRC online account. If you were submitting, check the recent activity and obligations before assuming the update failed or sending again.
Go to the right support team
Use your provider’s own help pages for product issues, or HMRC’s MTD help and support page for the official routes. We do not offer account access or submission services.

Why we wrote this
Public discussions helped us identify this question. Tax rules are based on GOV.UK; software claims use dated vendor pages and HMRC listings. Practical checklists and navigation tips are our suggestions, not official instructions or professional advice.
