No income this quarter? You still send the update
Source basis: GOV.UK guidance. Check recorded 25 October 2026. Checks and limitations
General guidance. Independent tax-professional review is pending.
Short answer
Yes, you still send it. GOV.UK says that if you have not received any income or had any expenses during an update period, you must still send your quarterly update to tell HMRC.
When you can send it
Any time after the update period ends, up to and including the deadline day. You can also send it up to 10 days before the period ends if you do not expect any more transactions, for example because you will be away.
You can send updates more often if you like, but together they still have to cover the full update period.
GOV.UK does not say that a deadline moves when it falls on a weekend. 7 November 2026, for example, is a Saturday.
